A joint project launch ceremony in Tirana brought together representatives of VERBUND and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, who highlighted the project’s significance for Albania’s energy transition.”
“Today marks an important milestone for Albania and VERBUND. Now that the preconditions of the development agreement have been fulfilled and the Notice to Proceed has been issued, construction of the country’s first wind park can begin. We are proud to contribute to the expansion of renewable energy in Albania, and to take another significant step towards delivering our growth strategy. We would like to thank the Ministry and all the other authorities involved for their constructive collaboration. We are committed to delivering a project that will contribute to Albania’s energy future and bring lasting infrastructure benefits to the project area,” said Dietmar Reiner, Managing Director of Verbund Green Power.
“With the Spille wind farm, Albania is entering a new phase in the development of its energy sector, turning its wind potential into tangible benefits for the country. Meeting the conditions required to move this project forward demonstrates that our vision for diversifying Albania’s energy sources is taking shape through strategic investment and partnerships with internationally experienced companies such as VERBUND.
Beyond adding 72,6 MW of renewable energy capacity, Spille represents a development model that strengthens energy security, modernises infrastructure, and creates new opportunities for the local economy. Our ambition is for Albania to move beyond relying solely on its traditional strengths in energy production and harness its full potential to become an increasingly important player in the clean energy sector,” said Enea Karakaçi, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy.
